Are you moving to FL. and struggling with where to land? You are looking to make a big move – you have thought about it, hoped for an opportunity and the time is now (before the kids head back to school and you are stuck in place for another year).
Overwhelmed by the Choices and Reality of Moving to FL.?
As much as a move seems like a great idea – now you are feeling overwhelmed by the choices. Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Naples – how does one pick a new home when you have no true attachment to the new place where you want to call home?
Think Through Available Options
You need to figure out what makes the most sense for you and your family. For us – a move to Florida was never a thought. I really couldn’t understand a family member’s move down here (and him told him that a few times). Instead – we opened ourselves to an opportunity. When we saw our extended family members thriving – we knew we wanted to do whatever it took to make this work.
Jacksonville might as well have been a foreign city. We truly had no idea what we were signing up for and yet here we are. Ultimately – we shifted our search a bit further south into St. Johns County. We wanted access to one of the top rated school districts in Florida. We have come to appreciate Jacksonville for the ease of getting around (vs the commuter rail into NYC).
Consider Your Personal Situation
Take the time to consider your situation: do you need/want to be near family? Are there hobbies or spots you want proximity to (beach/ocean, theme parks, bike trails, etc)? Do you want to have access to community amenities? Will you need to commute? Are you thinking about renting or buying? These are all things that can help drive your decision. Take the time to find a trusted professional who can help you work through these things.
Ultimately – find someone who has made the move you are thinking about (or a similar one). Most of the people we have met down here are more than happy to share their stories. If I can be of any assistance to you with your search – please contact me and let’s schedule some time to talk.
