Yesterday, WalletHub released their list of Best States to Live in (2024) which Includes Florida.  Florida ranked atop the list falling into second place.  Massachusetts took the top spot with Louisiana falling into the 50th spot.

With economic and employment inquiries high atop the list of most looking to relocate to the area – these results can shed some light on various areas when contemplating a move.  At the same time, for locals, these lists can serve as a great reminder of why you’ve chosen this area to call home.

How was the list derived?

WalletHub compared the 50 states on metrics of affordability, economy, education & health, quality of life and safety.  With an underlying 51 relevant metrics – these topics were graded to arrive at the final results using a 100 point scale (100 being most favorable).

How Did Florida Score on the Best States to Live In (2024)?

Overall, Florida earned the #2 spot on the list with a total score of 59.82.  This falls behind top finisher, Massachusetts (60.52) and in stark contrast from Louisiana at the bottom of the list (41.31).  Florida scored middle of the pack when looking to affordability (scoring 30th). On the economic front – Florida ranked 11th.  Education and Health saw Florida in 24th place.  Quality of Life for Florida ranked in 4th place. Lastly, the Safety Rank metric scored Florida in 10th place nationally.

For those considering a move to the area – the impressive metrics of a 2.9% unemployment rate (one of the lowest in the country) coupled with the 6th most job opportunities per capita puts Florida in an enviable position.  The article goes on to mention the 7th lowest tax rate and 6th highest median household income growth.  Most anyone thinking about a move to the area is familiar with the leisure time offerings in-state.
