Have You Ever Considered Moving to FL text over the St. Johns River with the Main Street Bridge and Jacksonville Skyline

Have You Ever Considered Moving to FL?

Have you ever considered moving to FL? Let yourself dream just a bit? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t.  I’ll offer – after 40+ years in New England, I sure hadn’t. Why do I mention this? Because I wish I had considered a move here sooner.

Florida is…:

To me – Florida was always where we could go for vacation. Beaches, cruises and amusement parks come to the top of mind in an attempt to escape the snow, ice and cold dreary weather.  But as a native New Englander, I’ll offer I also thought of Florida as hot summers, hurricanes, a spot to cruise out of, home to the Keys and Disney World.  Never once did I freely consider moving to Florida.

What Changed Things?

When a family member moved here we were shocked. Sure, being in finance I knew there was an evolving banking hub in Miami. But Jacksonville? Aside from being a port city – what exactly is in Jacksonville?  It turns out – a whole bunch of things I had no idea about. Fast forward a few months – we came to visit. We were won over on Day 1. The temperature, the sunshine, being warm on a beach in December, the kids riding bikes – need I go on? People seemed happier, we visited St. Augustine and explored, we found fun eateries and realized what this area had to offer.

The Jacksonville area continues to grow (and I include St. Johns and St. Augustine in this). I love the blend of historic homes mingled with new communities. There are options for just about everyone. Being outside the city – it’s easy enough to get in and out for concerts, sporting events, dining options and more.  In April, The Wall Street Journal using data from Moody’s named Jacksonville the 2nd hottest job market in the U.S.

Have You Ever Considered Moving to FL?

If you’re looking for a change – consider Florida. I’m happy to tell you all about the First Coast region – but know there are plenty of options further south, in the central part of the state or the on the west coast.  If you will be considering St. Augustine, Jacksonville or St. Johns, please feel free to contact me for a consultation.  If you would prefer to rent before you buy, please know that this is a common approach for people new to the area.
