Is The Thought of a Move or Relocation Weighing You Down?

Is the thought of a move or relocation weighing you down? From my own personal experience–thinking about moving can almost be harder than planning to move. Why? You’re still in an indecisive state. You haven’t fully committed to the idea or convinced yourself of the value found in moving.

Will a Move or Relocation Be Easy?

I can’t promise you a move will be easy. In fact–I know it is a very stressful time and period (in fact, moving is often included among lists of most stressful life events). What I can offer is that sometimes the hardest leaps of faith we make yield the best results.

Common mental hurdles: Will I like the new location? Will I meet people/make friends? What if I don’t like where I end up? Can I find work? What is there to do? Will people come visit me? I’ve never moved.

If you stop and look at those questions and statements–do you realize that all present chances for opportunity and personal growth? Also that all of those fears can be undone if you find that the relocation simply didn’t work for you.

So What Should You Do When Faced with a Move or Relocation?

Life is short–take a chance. In time, you could find that you: love the new location, have met plenty of people and made new close friends, have an amazing job (or are simply enjoying the retirement you worked so hard to earn), have new hobbies and have found countless activities to occupy your spare time.

Parting Thoughts

One last thought: If buying in an unfamiliar location seems too drastic–consider renting. This is a common strategy I offer to anyone who presents with uncertainty. No, this is not the right approach for everyone–but it has worked wonders for some amazing individuals.

If you or someone you know is thinking about moving to Jacksonville, FL or St. Augustine–please contact me. In our case, we took a leap of faith, packed the house and truck and moved down the East Coast. I’m happy to share our experiences if that helps you decide if a move south would be in your best interest.
