St. Johns Back to School 2024 – The time is here!
Where Does the Time Go?
Hard to believe how quickly the last 10 weeks of summer vacation have passed. Like most parents, I question just how quickly time passes us by. I sincerely hope your summer has been filled with fun adventures, time together with friends and family and packed with memories to last a lifetime. For our new families in the area – welcome! I hope things are calming down and more settled as the boxes have been unpacked.
Back to School – Please Take Care and Be Aware
Next Monday (August 12) marks the return to the classroom for the St. Johns County School District. This means a change to our neighborhoods and communities in the days and weeks ahead. Crosswalks will be filled with children, parents, caregivers and crossing guards. Kids of all ages will be on bikes navigating their way to and from schools. I’ll never forget our first year here in Florida with the kids biking to school at Julington Creek Elementary. What a change from CT!
We’ll have some students on buses and still others getting rides to school. Many of our area high schoolers will be driving themselves as well. Please take the time and care to be aware of this flurry of activity in our midst.
Some helpful hints to navigate St. Johns County back to school:
1. Obey all posted school bus signals — it is the law
2. Know that children don’t always cross when/where expected. Be on the lookout especially around school and crosswalks in the area.
3. Consider avoiding routes that may take you past local schools during drop-off and pick-up times — it could save you a few minutes.
4. Leave extra time to arrive at your destination

Wishing everyone the best of luck to teachers, staff, parents, caregivers and our students as they start the 2024-2025 school year! From May it be your best year yet!
