Weekends are for Open Houses

When you’re in the market for a home, weekends are for open houses.  You might think “I have full access to homes whenever I want, thanks to my agent” – which is mostly true – but let’s talk through the advantages of an Open House.

You Get to Access to the Home and Listing Agent

Have super specific questions about a home that you want to ask? Questions about the neighborhood, schools or amenities? An open house is a great time to get the exact questions you have answered without having to play a grown up version of the game of telephone.  Additionally, you are able to take your time and walk through the home and property with or without your agent.  This is also a chance to see what the neighborhood looks like – activity wise – during prime weekend time. I would suggest it doesn’t hurt to look at houses both above and below your targeted budget.  This helps you ensure your home search doesn’t require adjustments.

You Can Work Independently

Open houses afford you the opportunity to tour a home without your agent.  While it is ideal to have your agent on hand when viewing a home sometimes scheduling makes that difficult.  I also believe that open houses can help you weed out homes that you may like on screen but realize in person are simply not for you.

You Can See a Decent Number of Homes

As open houses are staggered throughout the day – it is possible to tour a number of homes in a weekend.  I just looked through the MLS and see 6 open houses scheduled tomorrow in SilverLeaf.  In a community like SilverLeaf – you’ll often find a mix of new construction units, models and re-sale homes available to visit.  For anyone interested – open houses are happening in SilverLeaf Village, Silver Landing and Holly Forest neighborhoods tomorrow.  While I’m sure models will be open with Ashley, David Weekley, Lennar, Master Craft and Riverside (among other builders), Dream Finders has open houses scheduled in multiple units.

Weekends are for Open Houses

When you are in the market for a new home, I believe that weekends are for open houses.  Use the time to see prospective homes, look at communities and be inspired by all things home related.  I believe it is an easy way to super charge your home search.  If you are interested in knowing which homes have open houses in our area, drop me a message and I’m happy to make you a schedule (or tour units alongside you if that is your preference).  Happy house hunting!
